Why did the Elk cross the road?

Why did the Elk cross the road? To get to the lush green forest of course, and get there it did. This elk, along with his family, crossed the only road into the Banff Gondola facility where it was quite happy to hold up the mile long traffic and bus loads, to find their 'chew of choice'.
